How often should I recheck the value of my antique signs?

If you've had a sign authenticated by us at TAC, you received an authentication sticker, idea of its established value, and also we note the date of authentication.

But as time goes on, the value may change.

The value of your signs is marked from the date they were done. If that was four years ago, the value is different today, that is why we put the date of authentication.

Understanding the value of your antique collection is important for insurance purposes and to enhance the enjoyment of the collection you've worked so hard to get.

This valuable information lets you stay ahead of market trends and make informed decisions about buying and selling.

At TAC, we want to help you understand what your items are worth. Our TAC system gives you more detail so you can compare your items to ones you see at shows and auctions.

How often should I recheck the value of my antique signs?

For the antique signs we check (petroliana, automobilia, porcelain signs, car, motorcycle collectables and more) we recommend rechecking the value every 1-2 years.

During the height of the COVID 19 pandemic, while the stock market and other investments fell, collecting antique signs proved to be a stable investment.

The value of most of our collectibles has maintained or increased in value over the years.

Of course, we don't know if that will continue in the months and years ahead, so it's a good idea to have your items re-valued by us every couple years or so.

This Sign Increased in Value 50-Fold

For example, a Musgo Micheagon Miler Maker DSP sign sold at auction for $20,000 in 2001. Today, the same sign is worth $1,000,000 or more. This is exception, but most signs have increase by 20% to 50% or the last ten years. So it's a good idea to have your signs re-authenticated to know the idea of value.
